Posters for Rui Ma
What would emotions look like in the visual world? This series of posters named Emotions represent four different types of basic emotions in visual form. The four emotions are Joy, Anger, Sadness, and Fear. The designer used contemporary visual language including abstract illustrations, vibrant colors, and dynamic typography to show the connection between emotions and facial expressions. In this design system, each visual language works as individual designs on its own. At the same time, all the poster designs work as a system.

Design Challenge
Emotions can be abstract and also representational at the same time. The challenge of the project was how to visualize emotions in playful and contemporary design/illustration styles. The research on the connection between facial expressions and emotions was also a challenge but an interesting subject.

This series of posters were designed for both digital and print applications. The posters can be viewed on screens, prints and OOH, etc.

The research of this project was based on information about the subject from the internet.
Inspiration
I was reading a few psychology books recently and a question came to my mind: What would emotions look like in the visual world? So I did the research and created the posters with graphics and illustrations in English and Chinese.
