The design of this furniture, especially in the armrest of the lounge chair and the framework of desktop, draws on the modeling elements of "Ma Tau Wall" of Huizhou architecture in China. with tilted upward ends and smooth and natural lines. It has become an important functional and decorative part of furniture. This furniture is made of beech, leather and glass materials, using Chinese traditional architectural mortise and tenon joint craftsmanship. The overall size is ergonomically designed, and the leather cushion and backrest are soft and comfortable with sufficient support.

Inspired by the Ma Tau Wall, the shape of the horse head combining with the shape of gatehouse, is transformed into a key structural element and decorative part of the furniture. The overall design is classical and stable, which makes it more suitable for use in modern home. This set of furniture is a new attempt to combine the elements of Huizhou regional culture with modern furniture design.

This furniture is made of beech, leather and glass materials, using Chinese traditional architectural mortise and tenon joint craftsmanship.
This research tries to find the point where tradition meets modernity, fine tune, transform and redesign traditional elements, and design works with distinctive national characteristics, which can have an impact on the senses and psychology of the target groups both from the visual and the cultural connotation perspective.
The project, started in October 2021 in Fuzhou, was completed in May 2022 in Fuzhou.
The lounge table and chair set creates a space for drinking tea and reading. The leather cushion and backrest are soft and comfortable with sufficient support. The table is divided into two layers, with the lower leather layer serving as storage space for books, magazines and other items.
This design belongs to conceptual study, aiming at refining and redesigning traditional Chinese culture, especially exploring methods to integrate the national native elements into modern furniture designs. The research methodology includes field research, user interviews, focus groups, and using tests. The research results will contribute to the inheritance and innovation of Chinese traditional culture.
The architectural aesthetics of Huizhou is a unique human landscape left over from the end of the feudal times in China. The Ma Tau Wall of Hui-stylearchitecture is a regional architectural element with both practicality and aesthetics. Organically integrating Huizhou architecture with modern furniture design makes people feel the charm of Huizhou culture in daily life.
Hui Lounge Table and Chair has been a Iron winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
