Combining traditional patterns and modern reconstruction, Haisi Resort highlights the local culture and reproduces the style of a century-old water town in Fuzhou. The furniture in the project echoes the local house in southern Fujian. The lacquer paintings are the inheritance of handicrafts, and the wood carvings highlight the charm of southern Fujian furniture. As the highest standard administrative room in the entire water town, the project adopts courtyard-style buildings and integrates southern Fujian culture.

Located in the River Town in Fujian, China, Haisi Resort highlights the local culture and reproduces the style of a century-old water town in Fuzhou. As the highest standard administrative room in the entire water town, the project adopts courtyard-style buildings and integrates southern Fujian culture, which is quite gorgeous and stunning.

The executive room adopts a three-entry space layout. The first entry space is the drop-off area; the second entry is the bedroom area, using symmetrical arrangement, the bed faces the courtyard, making the scenery the focus of sight, the ceiling height restores the original appearance of the building to the greatest extent, and uses traditional purlins to interpret the antique flavor of southern Fujian buildings; the three entrances are courtyards, making the space full of greenery.
The traditional furniture in southern Fujian is ingenious and gorgeous in decoration, with strong three-dimensional effect and grandeur. The window lattices are engraved with flowers and birds, the lacquer paintings on the screens are luxurious and exquisite. To simulate the ancient local building, the furniture and cabinet doors are painted with the traditional craftsmanship of mother-of-pearl inlay work and lacque. The background painting is used to describe the vicissitudes of life and increase the cultural charm of the guest room.
The project started in May 2021 and the design was finished in October 2021.
The overall executive room adopts a soft and warm wooden tone, and is decorated with brilliant and gorgeous brown and gold, so that the whole space shows the royal feeling, and the partition and the ceiling are harmonious and unified.
The furniture in the project echoes the local big house in southern Fujian. The luxurious lacquer paintings are the inheritance of handicrafts, and the exquisite wood carvings highlight the unique charm of southern Fujian furniture. The pattern is intriguing, and the texture is fine and delicate, highlighting the brilliance of Southern Fujian culture.
As a business card and landmark of cultural tourism in Fuzhou, the design is inspired by the ancient heritage of Fujian. The Haisi Resort inherits the architectural characteristics of the southern Fujian house which combines the high-rise roof ridge, carved beams and pillars, and wall brick reliefs to form a unique southern Fujian architectural courtyard.
Haisi Resort has been a Bronze winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
