Signage System and Environmental Graphic for Water Authority of Shenzhen Municipality
The Eastern Seawall project was to connect 6 areas visually by unified signage systems, creating a unique experience for visitors to enjoy native features and vitality. While avoiding intrusive design, designers took "reading on the way" as a main design concept. It provides visitors with a fresh, interesting, and complete experience to read information, such as signboards, site maps, and ecology introductions for roads and entrances. Modular structures were adopted to meet the needs of different venues.

Along the 32km shoreline of Dapeng Peninsula in six disconnected parts, is dotted with boards in compact structures. The installation is easy and fast due to stage construction and long cycle. The coastal conditions bring challenges such as typhoon, high salt and high humidity. The boards can reduce wind loads and combine with permanent poles, avoiding looseness and corrosion of regular metal fasteners, easy for maintenance.
The unified signage systems are built instead of the existed disordered ones to meet low maintenance demands for each section, and the demands for coastal economic production, also for the tourists. They’re designed by modular structures, making sign boards available with various forms but unified modules. Flexible sign-board assembling is achieved to meet the needs of different venues.

By chance, it became a nice area for ocean protection. The interesting and changing ground graphics by coating process are designed to attract people to interact with this nice area during their visit on the magnificentpromenade.
Located in the east of Shenzhen, Dapeng Peninsula is famous for its mountains and seas. Local fishing villages and long coastline attract a large number of tourists.
