Chair for Tatung University
People live in a world that is becoming increasingly homogeneous, and the rapid tide of modernization is causing many traditional cultures to fade away. However, designers believe that this precious cultural heritage must be preserved and promoted. Therefore, they fuse the bags used in traditional Taiwanese culture with the chairs used in early Taiwanese homes, reinterpreting and re-presenting them to breathe new life and soul into them, giving them a new look and recreating their value through aesthetic expression.

The KA-TSI bag, which is often used by Taiwanese, and the Tai-Shi Chair from the early days of the family were used for the fusion.

The special curvature makes it easy to produce errors, so after many experiments we chose to use a mold to control its shape.
The project starts in Turin in October 2022 and ends in Taiwan in December 2022.
The whole chair is divided into three parts, the back, cushion and legs, and assembled with screws, so that it will not take up space when transporting and can be more easily processed and manufactured.
The earliest KA-TSI bags were knitted with bulrush (phôo tsháu). KA-TSI Chair is taken from Tai-Shi Chair, the Chinese wooden fauteuil. Named after the official title, the Tai-Shi Chair is a classical Chinese furniture used by the Taiwanese earlier.
We hope to bring the traditional culture of Taiwan into this design, so that the tradition can be reproduced by design.
