There are no dead spots, it is soft and flexible and easy to bend. It can also be drained upright after washing. Production Technology
As it is made of the environmentally friendly silicone and has serrated shape, the Accordion Soap Dish is easy to bend and to clean the dirt in its grooves. The angles of the serrations on each side are precisely calculated to keep avoid extremely sharp or blunt so that affecting the effect of the holding up the soap and the extent of air circulation and also let standing draining to be stable and no easy to dumping.
Design Challenge
The soap dish is a very common item. How to achieve sustainable use while retaining its basic role is the biggest challenge. So by choosing a lightweight silicone material with a modern, organised shape, a multifunctional soap dish was combined that has both value and function. The sophisticated and easy to use Accordion Soap Dish is a realisation of our original idea.
Project Duration
The project started in March 2022 in Shanghai, China and finished in July 2022 in Shanghai,China, and goes on sale online in September 2022.
Operation Flow
Suitable for multiple use, it can also be used to drain small objects such as scouring pads, beauty blenders, etc. Moreover, washed makeup brushes can be placed in the grooves to avoid rolling off. Soft and bendable, it is easy to clean. The Accordion Soap Dish is made of high-quality silicone with excellent stability, acid resistance and corrosion resistance, non-toxic and odorless, besides, the supple surface will not leave scratches on your countertop.
Research
The Accordion Soap Dish can serve various purposes on its own that originally required assembly of multiple objects, simplifying the production and use process. Although more and more soap could be replaced by hand sanitizer, the soap tray can be used for other purposes, therefore it will not be easily discarded and can have an extended service life.
Inspiration
Common soap trays are often designed into several layers of structure to solve the problems of soap not being soaked soft, draining quickly, cleaning easily and often with ugly appearance that difficult to integrate into the modern indoor environment. As it is made of the environmentally friendly silicone and has serrated shape, the Accordion Soap Dish is easy to bend and to clean the dirt in its grooves, naturally integrated into the bathroom, wash basin and other humid environments.
Project Overview
Accordion Soap Dish has been a Bronze winner in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively.
