Commercial for Lungwei Interior Design
To recreate the glamorous and luxurious vibes in the Jazz Age of the 1920s, the space features tons of mirrors. Mirrors create a sense of extended visual depth. Vintage furniture, leather chairs, leather goods, and natural marble pay homage to the era filled with lots of glitz and glamour. A hair salon by day, and a bar by night, a two-faced venue that combines two seemingly different places. Imbued with glass, mirrors, light, shadow, and curves, the space is full of glamorous antique charm.

LYNCH Salon and Bar takes the guests back in time to the 1920s, the splendid time period of the Great Gatsby. A stunning haircut show takes place. At night, it turns into a unique and magical place where you can discover the most amazing drinks. A hair salon by day, and a bar by night a two faced venue that combines two seemingly different places. Imbued with glass, mirrors, light, shadow, and curves, the space is full of glamorous antique charm. Tons of mirrors reflect a soft light that illuminates the face, making it easier for the hairdresser to give haircuts. Part reality, part fantasy, the space exudes an aura of mystery at night. The dark color palette implies the Great Depression after World War one, while the interplay of light and shadow, enchanting mirrors, and luxurious stone materials illustrate the images of the United States, the world's largest creditor nation in the 1920s, namely vibrant, unique, flashy and extravagant. The interior design tells stories of the past through the contrasting elements.

Large diamond shaped mirrors, the entrance handles, flooring, and canopy molding in the sofa area feature brass finishes to convey a sense of a nostalgic vibe. As a popular interior design material, brass can change over time due to oxidation. Brass can achieve an authentic rustic look as time passes. White vintage tiles in the center strike a balance between light and dark. The pattern gradually guides the visual movement. Meanwhile, the partition unveils layers and evokes a sense of ritual. Along with light and shadow, the materials create an amazing, enchanting effect during the visit.
The project is finished in 2022 in Taipei City, Taiwan.
The symmetrical entrance door and the diamond pattern flooring symbolize the merge of the two industries within the space. The partition behind the entrance clearly divides the space into two, the left and the right. To extend the line of vision to the space beyond, the middle of the partition is decorated with a glass with diamond pattern. Framed by see through diamond mesh, the partition will give guests a sense of privacy. The traffic flow split guests and leads them to the central area. By day, pairs of matching sofas facing each other allow guests to wait until it's their turn. By night, guests can sit on the sofas to enjoy a sip. A diamond shaped partition is placed at the end, which echoes the vintage theme as well as adding layers and drama.
The salon chairs are spacious so that guests can sit comfortably to enjoy wonderful haircutting experiences. On the countertops, natural marble lends a touch of luxury and glamour, while the mirrors offer a 270 degree panoramic view that perfectly captures all angles. At the end of the central area, a partition divides it into a semi open booth. The wide diamond shaped mirror on the canopy allows guests to see how hair is being cut, just like watching a reality show. Thanks to the 2 seater design, hairdressers can serve a group of performers at the same time. To brighten the space, each seat has its own lighting fixture, just like a spotlight projecting a bright beam of light onto the performers, setting the theme of a splendid show.
Instead of being too flashy, the low profile bar area serves as the foil to the main theme. The bar area brings the retro atmosphere of the Bund in old Shanghai. Faint light sources, antique bar chairs, and mottled walls add a strong sense of charm and history. Mixing Eastern and Western vintage and antique pieces, the space is a ground breaking design that witnesses the mighty tide of history.
