Unique Properties

This innovative shower enclosure departs from the conventional square design to create a bathing space, combining aesthetic appeal and practicality. It mimics the form of water flow by featuring a highly dynamic and modern curved surface shape, imbuing the space with dynamism. In terms of functionality, the glass door hinge incorporates a lifting mechanism, enabling barrier free access and preventing water overflow. Moreover, the long strip handle offers users a more ergonomic gripping.

Production Technology

The glass material employed exhibits good resistance to blast and high temperature, ensuring the safety of users. Moreover, the glass surface is endowed with a special coating that not only boosts water resistance but also minimizes the adhesion of limescale and stains, reducing the burden of daily cleaning. The ultra narrow frame is made of 304 stainless steel that boasts waterproof and anti corrosion properties. The precise hardware parts have a better hardness and a longer service lifespan.

Design Challenge

The challenge was to innovate upon the standard square design of shower enclosures. Continuous water flow during showering inspired the design team to create a shower enclosure with a curved surface. Through studying materials and structures, the team developed a shower space with an artistic ambience. By utilizing glass that met the requirements of structural curvature and aesthetic appeal, the team crafted a visually pleasing space that was easy to maintain.

Project Duration

The project was designed and developed in Guangzhou in May 2023, and is scheduled to be launched in Guangzhou in March 2024.

Operation Flow

In accordance with the ergonomics, the design team analysed the human body structure and user habits. Subsequently, they configured the glass door with a long strip handle that facilitates a natural and effortless operation. The glass door hinge has a lifting mechanism that facilitates barrier free access for users. The glass door automatically closes once the hinge is lowered, allowing the water barrier to fit the ground, creating an airtight space and effectively preventing water overflow.

Research

Contemporary society has witnessed a surge in the demand for quality life. Consequently, the expectations regarding the design of home environments have risen substantially. As an essential part of the bathroom, the shower enclosure has evolved beyond its purely functional role and embraces more creative and artistic inclinations. To this end, the design team has incorporated water flow patterns into the modelling and accessory design, imbuing the bathing space with a unique sense of charm.

Inspiration

Inspired by the dynamic form of flowing water, the design team employed curves of the curved glass to render the product with smooth and soft visual effects, presenting natural and elegant beauty. Moreover, the team incorporated wave pattern style accessories that further reinforce the visual impact of rippling water, creating a sense of bathing in clear waters and bestowing a feeling of comfort and tranquillity upon the users.

Project Overview

Luminary Shower Room has been a Iron winner in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Iron A' Design Award is awarded to good designs that meet the rigorous professional and industrial standards set by the A' Design Awards. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution. Recipients of the Iron A' Design Award are acknowledged for their practical innovations and contributions to their respective fields, providing solutions that improve quality of life and foster positive change.
