AI Generation Interface for Department of Visual Communication Design, YunTech
Wow Genie has designed a series of simple yet guiding AI image and music generation interfaces specifically for children. These themes cover the six major aspects of people's lives: clothing, food, shelter, transportation, education, and entertainment. They are divided into five categories: architecture, shops, merchandise, art, and music. This enables children, unfamiliar with AI, to easily operate them and have early exposure to AI-related education.

AI, AGC, Stable Diffusion, GUI, Kids
With the usage of stable diffusion, we built a new user interface with more easy operation and understanding for all ages, including children under 12y. The whole interface was built with HTML5 and could be set on any kind of computers without hi-end graphic card. The calculating and rendering were completed in clouds.
The most challenging part of the design process was finding the balance. We wanted to keep the interface simple and easy to use, while making sure it was appealing enough to engage children. To do this, we used a series of cute mascots to engage them, while making sure the interface didn't become overly complex. Throughout the process, we experimented and tweaked to ensure that our design would both meet the needs of children and achieve our goals.
The Wow Genie project began its conceptual proposal in June 2023, was completed in March 2024, and held a design joint exhibition in Yunlin, Taiwan in May 2024. Subsequently, it was exhibited at the Young Designers' Exhibition in Taipei from May to June and at Vision Get Wild in Kaohsiung in June.
The interface starts with two instruction pages and provides different way to generate prompts, like keywords selection, text input, drawing symbols and selecting music clips. Users choose their familiar method for input without learning of techincal terms, parameters and abstract concepts.
The generation process has been simplified by examining the AI generation methods available in the market, making it easy for children to follow. For example, in the interface for building generation, the user simply selects up to three adjectives from a list of 10 adjectives and the system generates the corresponding building image.
AI will become the future trend. Providing children with AI-related education early is crucial. Therefore, a series of simple and guided AI generation interfaces has been designed with the aim of addressing the complexity and operational difficulty of existing AI generation interfaces on the market.
