Restaurant and Bar for MCMD
In order to break the limitation in the vertical space, the designer excavated the two-story floor to form a patio, and moved the wine rack behind the bar directly to the second floor, forming a seven-meter-high wine tower. He tried to enlarge the opening surface on the north side as much as possible, blurring the interface between indoor and outdoor. With the extended ground material integration, the outer pendulum area with more than three meters is also included in the integrated spatial visual experience, so that the space extension that was originally cramped has been greatly improved.

This project has two floors. The first floor is dominated by Italian food, while second first floor focuses on the bar. In order to break the limitation in the vertical space, the designer excavated the two-story floor to form a patio, and moved the wine rack behind the bar directly to the second floor, forming a four-story, seven-meter-high wine tower. In the planar layout, the wine tower is a closed structure consisting of two "L" shapes and a middle "T" shape.

The use of mirror stainless steel improved the visual effect of the second floor with limited floor height, and stretched the visual effect to make the spatial performance more exaggerated. In the choice of wood finish, the designer adopted simulation technology, reducing the use of wood. In the selection of precious metal materials such as brass, he adopt water plating technology. Copper plating on stainless steel greatly reduces the cost and achieves the texture and effect of real copper.
With the original building space, the plane on the first floor has shallow features. The designer tried to put the bar in the middle, but the pattern of the central island bar could not be realized. He found that there is a space available behind the south side of the outer wall, so he moved the outer wall more than two meters to the south, a increased area of twenty square meters occurred, the layout of the central island bar was also established. The north side is the outer swing area.
The project started in July 2018 in Chengdu and finished in July 2019 in Chengdu.
The facade design is the key point of this project. We have made a large opening area on the facade of the two-storey building, so that people in the outside can see the super tall wine tower, which is very attractive. In addition, the use of light is the focus of this design, where light is not only for lighting but also a tool to set off the atmosphere, which is particularly important for bars. There is no glare, the illuminant is hidden, and the light is diffused or transmitted.
This is a gathering place, which attracts a large number of foreigners, especially Italian friends. The Italian consulate choose here to be the meeting place. In addition, Maserati, Ferrari and other company often take part in activities here. It is all due to the authentic Italian dishes and the exclusive agent of Prosecco sparkling wine. It can make Italians who are far away from home feel friendly, and soon it will become a happy home for Italian friends.
The designer conveys the concept of "new-style small wine culture", "free mix and match" and "freedom to play casually" to the consumers through the perception, touch, hearing and consumption feelings to highlight that Chengdu has integrated into internationality. He tried to start from the origins between Venice and Chengdu, and searched for resonance points from Eastern and the Western bridges with different characteristics and extracted the most basic formation language of "arch".
