Foot Massage for E.D.S.T.

The atmosphere of vacation can reduce the tension to the environment and recall the experience of the natural beauty of life. The designers were inspired by Stone Houses Town on a sea island to restore people's most simple longing for life quality.The arched structure is an iconic presence in the Greek landscape and has strong vitality. On this basis, the designers added the motion attitude of island broadleaf trees and sea waves, and extended arched door form to a continuous classical arched structure, which served as the corner stone of space language.

Unique Properties

This is the design of a spa project. Based on the industrial characteristics of spa, which is close to nature and provides physical and mental care, designer add on the design concept of "slow life" and take the vacation feeling that is close to nature as the design direction, which is environment-friendly and also can comfort people's tired heart in metropolis with simple design and romantic environment.

Production Technology

We take stone arches in our design and we also add on the island's broad-leaved trees stretching and the waves stretching to expand the shape of the arch, turn it into continuous cross arch construction, and take it as the cornerstone of space language. In terms of material, we use frosted paint, broken-marble stone and terrazzo to simulate coastal sandstone, so as to create a sense of scene of overlooking the coast through arched windows and introduce nature into the interior.

Design Challenge

The most difficult part of this design comes from the selection of materials. Different from the materials used in local common projects, some of the materials in this case were nailed down after a long-term selection and multiple rounds of samples. "Holiday feeling" is considered to be our design idea by us for sustainable extension of the project, so as to further form a diversified health preservation cultural industry integrating spa, eating and drinking, social interaction as well as the third space.

Project Duration

The project was launched in August 2019, completed in December 2019 and started to operate in Changzhou, China.

Operation Flow

In this case, the pure white material is used as the spatial keynote to avoid being disturbed by too much information when entering the space. On the basis of it, the sense of mystery brought about by the cultural differences of the vault and the rough feeling of the soft accessories turn to be the main tone of emotion, which can provide an immersive experience of the original materials in the mysterious space from stepping into the lobby and ease people's mood with the feeling of beauty.

Research

In this case, the stone buildings on the island are studied. We have looked up network data, taken material samples, and observed the industry status of similar industries. At last, we found the characteristics of stone buildings, which can be embodied in the deformation of "arch". At the time when we transfer that feature into space design, the vault restores people's most simple yearning and expression for the quality of life.

Inspiration

Spa refers to the maintenance of the body. In terms of desigh, designer also hope to give people a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. And the feeling of vacation can alleviate people's stress on the environment most, so choose the pure white stone house town on the Greek island as the inspiration source. As one of the significant signs of stone building, it's the original feeling and aesthetic taste of the arch that leads to this design creation.

Project Overview

Hezi Foot Massage has been a Silver winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
