For most people, a home conjures up a reassuring and warm scenario. In designing this work, the designer combined the local environment to seamlessly integrate the gentleness of the water and the steadiness of the screen into the whole space, making it imbued with decorative elements and visual effects while maintaining its own style.
clear-cut, embroidery techniques, screen, slightly luxurious, dynamism amid tranquility, eco-friendly wallpaper
The wall design incorporates embroidery techniques, with eco-friendly wallpaper and bio-latex paint adopted on the surface. In addition, eco-friendly materials are also used for the interior pipes, and the glass and glazed tiles in the lobby and bedrooms are anti-bacterial, better protecting the health of the owner and guests.
The biggest challenge of this work is how to maximize its superior geographical location and highlight its advantage of river landscape. In addition, as clients pay more attention to functionality, there emerges another challenge to use new eco-friendly and antibacterial materials to ensure the excellent texture while striving to enrich the elements of the space.
The project was set up and started to be developed in April 2019 in Shanghai, China. The decoration was completed in July of the same year with prototype rooms open for display.
The circulation design concept of this work is clear-cut. With the entrance door as the dividing line, the left side is a private space for living while the right side serves as a public area. Such layout is good in its functional simplicity, and also simplifies guests range of movements as they come to the house, thus avoiding intrusion into private spheres.
Basic local research by the design team showed that the prospective buyers in the area are around 35 to 40-year-olds, mostly middle and high-end elite people with successful careers and a family structure of 3-6 people. They have certain requirements on the quality and visual effects of home decoration, and care for the functionality of the home. Therefore, the design team chose a slightly luxurious and intimate decoration style to meet their pursuit of life quality.
Many of the works interior design is inspired by the screen, a traditional Chinese soft furnishing element. By combining the large dark colors with abstract graphics, the designer has lent a unique touch of security and stability to the home space. In addition, myriad water elements are added to the wall and ceiling to build connections with the Hunhe river outside the window, rendering a sense of dynamism amid tranquility to the whole space.
Pujiang International Garden Interior Space Design has been a Bronze winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
