It is an interior design case for a spa house with an indoor area of 1,500 square meters. It is in the downtown of the city with numerous competitors, a noisy environment, and no natural landscape. The designer builds a Zen 'cave space' to resonate with Cave Time psychology and let the customer obtain a distinctive service experience to get apart from the intense life. The spa house also provides customers mental relaxation throughout the unique design layout.

The designer believes that the core value of space design for a commercial project is to help owners improve their business competitiveness by creating a space environment that in line with their business and leaves a unique impression on customers. 1. Build a quiet space environment. The designer isolated the house from the surrounding to eliminate the influence of the street noise and implemented the natural landscape at the entrance. The original columns are used to construct a crisscrossed arch cavity, which forms a dynamic line guide in the space. The cavern-shaped spa suite is arranged along this dynamic line. Diffuse light is used as the main light source in this space. The ground light helps to guide the moving line, forming a quiet and soft visual experience. 2. Provide more business space. Different from normal living rooms, the cave-like space without windows does not make people feel uncomfortable. Therefore, the layout of spa suites is can be flexible and the utilization efficiency can be greatly improved. The total area of the spa suites makes up 75% of the indoor area for Jiang Yue She spa house. In contrast, spa suites in a conventional spa house are usually arranged along the exterior walls so that the effective business area is limited to under 50% of the indoor area. 3. Provide a comfortable space experience. As the interior space is nearly enclosed, the designer uses a set of powerful ALL-Air system to ensure the freshness, cleanliness, temperature, and humidity of the indoor air meet the national <Indoor Air Quality Test> standard.
It is a stereotype that a spa house mainly provides health therapy services for middle-aged and elderly people. Most spa houses look like a treatment room or a public bathroom so that the young generation rejects to go to spa houses. The designer builds an elegant and quiet space environment for the store to get the recognition of the young crowd and represents a new business image in a traditional industry. Also, attract a lot of young people thanks to the design.
Design Duration: October 2019 - December 2019 Date of Completion: August 2020 Project Address: Jiazhou Garden, Jiangbei, Chongqing, China
In the main space consisting of arch holes and caves, natural elements such as ponds, trees, and waterfalls are implanted into the interior to build a sense of outdoor landscape. These interior landscapes soften the interface of the building structure, streamlining the spatial relationship, and making a natural spatial transaction and elegant interior temperament. As one passes from a space of noisy city through one like quiet field into a hidden cave, one's mind becomes tranquil.
Project Abstract Improve the competitiveness of commercial space Utilize spatial suggestion to stimulate consumer's psychological needs Application of interior landscape in enclosed space Increase the effective use area of commercial space
The design is inspired by 'Cave Time', a psychological phenomenon that was found common in modern society. It refers to the fact that people seek a quiet and enclosed space to temporarily separate from their daily life and enjoy a period of absolute relaxation for most times. This group of people is also the target market of the spa house. Thus, the designer wants to build a Zen 'cave space' to resonate with Cave Time psychology and let the customer obtain a distinctive service experience.
