Production Technology

The whole frame is made of round bamboo material, and its exposed part is polished and polished; relying on the toughness and elasticity of bamboo, the connection structure mostly adopts the way of wrapping, cutting off a part of a bamboo pole to form a notch, putting the other bamboo pole at the notch, wrapping it inside by bending, and winding reinforcement on the outside; the seat surface and back are reinforced by hand They are made by braiding, and the joints between them and the framework are connected by inserting and winding.

Design Challenge

The round bamboo frame is combined with the braided surface, and the connection mode of the cross beam and the front and rear legs is wrapping connection. The use of the braided surface and wrapping connection gives full play to the toughness and elasticity of the bamboo, and gives people a more relaxed and comfortable experience, so that the overall seat will not be too rigid. At the same time, the structure is stable and simple on the reasonable basis.

Project Duration

It began in Shenyang in November 2020, was completed in Shenyang in January 2021.

Operation Flow

The whole seat is formed by three leg support, which is subject to the triangle and has stability, which is conducive to the stability of the whole structure. The seat has plenty of space, which can make people relax better. Bamboo is lighter than wood, which is convenient to move.

Research

The overall design of bamboo leisure chair extracts the form elements and texture of morning glory, combines the natural and eco-friendly bamboo and stable triangle structure, showing vigorous vitality, so that people can get rid of the busy and noisy, and give more kind and quiet care.

Inspiration

The design extracts the morphological elements of morning glory, and the state of petals when unfolding constitutes the seat back and seat surface. Associated with the natural texture of petals, the seat surface and back are designed as woven surface to give full play to the toughness and elasticity of bamboo and give people a great sense of comfort and security.

Project Overview

Bamboo Leisure Chair has been a Iron winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
