Consumer Electronics Film for Digital Panorama
Grundig Intermedia GmbH’s roots lie in the traditional German company, Grundig, which was founded in 1945 and achieved world fame with its radios and televisions. After the Second World War Germany was in ruins and so were most radios but new production was tightly controlled by the allies. Radio dealer Max Grundig saw an opportunity and built the ‘Heinzelmann’, a Grundig radio without tubes that was not officially a radio. And this was the same legendary design that was brought to life today.

%100 CGI animation. All elements were modelled in 3d space and animated in Maxon’s Cinema 4D software. Compositing was made in Adobe After Effects.
The main objective was to support Grundig’s motto, Embracing change is good if you remain true to yourself in a convincing plus entertaining way. The world of this product had to be mysterious and simple. The main elements of the animation were the wooden and brushed metallic materials that was used to build the classic design. They had to look real to convince the audience. Combining all these with a dramatic music in harmony, was the main challenge. The room we saw at the ending, had to reflect a feeling for a timeless, retro looking but modern life ambiance. We believe that we could achieve this.
Our first presentation of the idea to the client was in the first week of December 2020. Production started within a week. We finished and delivered the final film at the end of December 2020.
This is a CG Animation video. Planned to be played on social media platforms such as Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, Instagram and Grundig’s web site.
Sales reports and benchmarks were examined to filter the most known designs of radios. We came across the fact that Grundig Heinzelmann is very well known product since 1946. Our client briefed us about the history of this product and we leveled this up. The animation was planned to be aired on social media such as Grundig’s Youtube channel and retail stores in all around Europe. The store visitors were subjected to a questionairre to measure the effectiveness of the film.
Grundig introduced its legendary Heinzelmann product in 1946. It was designed as a wooden box tubeless radio. This wooden design inspired us and we built the way over the wood idea. We dreamed a world of wood and metal in harmony without loosing the roots of Grundig brand.
