Shr.d is a vinyl record shaped music player. S stands for the square, h for the hole, r for the red, and d for the dot. This product combines these basic graphics. Combined with the preferences and aesthetic orientation of the new generation of young people, shr.d is connected basic graphics and overlapped them, thus making them simple and exquisite. At the same time, it can also play music through a usb connection. Shr.d breaks through the concept of classical appearance and integrates into modern life, home furnishing, leisure, and other fields.

Production Technology

Its base is made of ABS, and the heat conduction is slow enough to keep the user from feeling cold. ABS material has strong impact resistance, scratch resistance, dimensional stability, and other characteristics, at the same time both moisture-proof, corrosion resistance, easy processing, and other characteristics. ABS material is also very environmental protection, because of the use of environmental chemicals, so there is no toxicity and no smell, but also to electrical insulation, is a very safe material.

Design Challenge

This is an innovative design with a complex internal structure, and the machining qualification rate is the biggest challenge encountered by this project.

Project Duration

The project started in September 2020 in Milan and finished in February 2021 in that place, and was exhibited in China in February 2021.

Operation Flow

First, take out shr.d and install it on the wall, fix it and connect the power supply and shr.d can be used normally. Then take out the user's favorite vinyl record on shr.d, pull the dial lever can play. In addition, there is a USB port on the right side of shr.d. At this point shr.d becomes a beautiful home stereo, users can connect to usb and play other favorite songs.

Research

Vinyl was the dominant music format in the 20th century. Because the sound quality of vinyl is the closest to the original sound without distortion, it feels more faithful and perfectly covers people of all ages. A vinyl record is a stereo black celluloid texture. In the development of all kinds of music recording materials such as record, tape, CD, vinyl record sound quality is closest to the original sound, is the pursuit of the realm of music lovers. Plenty of heavyweight performers, conductors, big bands, and vocalists made their debut on vinyl. It has a long life if it is properly preserved.

Inspiration

We get inspiration from the shape of modern products style. The vinyl record player is a music player in the very classical tradition. Our motive was to redesign the record player. So that it can be integrated into the modern home.
