Exhibition for Inception Cultural & Creative Co., Ltd
The Live and Let Live Exhibition invites the environmentalist artist Laurence Vallieres to re-created lively scenes of endangered animals such as the polar bears, snub-nosed monkeys, red pandas, koalas, and shoebills. While the audiences see them as if they were thriving in their natural habitat, in real life they are already being placed behind museum glasses; as a memory, as a record, and as how the future generation would see them.

The Live and Let Live Exhibition invites the environmentalist artist Laurence Vallières to re-created lively scenes of endangered animals such as the polar bears, snub-nosed monkeys, red pandas, koalas, and shoebills. While the audiences see them as if they were thriving in their natural habitat, in real life they are already being placed behind museum glasses; as a memory, as a record, and as how the future generation would see them.
LIVE AND LET LIVE, Born From Nature Bond with Nature, Laurence Vallières, Taikoo Hui Guangzhou, the gone zoo
Every aspect of the Live and Let Live exhibition is designed promote environmental friendly ideas. From the concept, the chosen artist, the artworks, the interactive installations, to even the materials are all consistent with the theme. For example, Laurence Vallières, the artist invited to create for this exhibition is most known for creating large scale animal sculptures with recycled cardboards.
The most challenging part of this project is the balance between the amount of information and entertainment; too much entertainment, the installation loses the message it tries to convey, and too much information bores the audiences. When brainstorming, Inception came up with a lot of ways in which these important information of endangered animals can be easily feed to the audiences, and was actually successful in doing so; the installation was included in multiple school trips, and there were elementary school children submitting environmental protection proposals to us after seeing the installation.
The exhibition started at 2020.06.26 and ended at 2020.08.02, it was held at Taikoo Hui Guangzhou
There are a few interactive installations in this exhibition. The huge interactive see-saw representing the balance of nature has human and animals sitting on the opposite ends. It tilts when an audience stands on a scale in the middle. There are also interactive technologies that allows the audience to understand each endangered animals better.
LIVE AND LET LIVE is a commissioned installation created by Inception. Dedicated to creating both original IP and client cases, we have been working on transboundary issues related to art, entertainment, music, ad media industries. Thus, when we were commissioned by Taikoo Hui (Guangzhou) Development Company Limited under the Swire Group to create an installation in the mall, we thought of the ongoing and increasingly severe crisis of endangered animals, and decided to raise awareness on this issue. Through immersive and interactive experience, the audiences is not only fed the information, but can involve themselves completely into this topic.
At this very moment, we are experiencing the sixth extinction, and this time, human has become the meteor that is causing it. As more and more animals are being listed as endangered animals, we wish to convey a pro-environmental message to the audiences through this exhibition.
