Packaging for THE WINE BARREL
Designers presented the wine barrel in its natural environment, the barrel. They used codes of wine tasting (cellar, barrels, flows) and broke the stereotypes of bottled wine and designed the packaging so that The Wine Barrel communicates the quality of a wine taken directly from the barrel and reversed the established idea that good wine can only exist in a glass container.

A fine wine isn’t necessarily a bottled wine. This was the core of the challenge; to reverse the established idea that quality wine can only exist in a glass container and to bring down the perception that good wine is an unreachable and elitist hobby that can only be enjoyed within a wine expertise context. A new wine category came up, The wine out of the box, which is the notion of moving wine from the big barrel to a smaller barrel so as to not lose its natural habitat.

The Project Started in October 2020 in Athens and is still ongoing.
TheWineBarrel offers an easy to carry handle, allowing it to become a perfect gift for visiting friends or family, while its tap makes serving as simple as pouring water on a glass.
Using creativity to democratize the art of wine tasting provided us with an amazing challenge, making the design of TheWineBarrel’s shape the highlight of this project.
TheWineBarrel maintains a visual representation of a wine’s natural home, while simultaneously democratizes the process of wine tasting, bringing it down from a crème de la crème ritual to a laid back evening with friends experience. Aside from its appearance, the symbol for this new, shared experience was enforced with the way the wine is served, with the use of a tap on the package.
