Musee Atelier for Audemars Piguets
At Audemars Piguet visitors are immersed in the cultural universe of the Swiss watch manufacture, Haute Horlogerie. The structurally very sophisticated glass spiral by BIG Architects extends the historic house where Audemars Piguet was founded in 1875. The museum's scenography offers visitors a paced composition with crescendos, climaxes and contemplative moments. Sculptures, automata and kinetic installations rhythm the exhibition, which is visually connected to the surrounding landscape. Time becomes tangible in space.

The Musee Atelier Audemars Piguet immerses visitors in the Swiss watch manufacturers past, present and future. It is situated in the historical location where the company was established: the small village of Le Brassus. In the exhibition, reflections and shadows combine to create a spectacle in which the course of time is inscribed. Visitors experience the route as a flowing continuum with a composed narration where each chapter has its own design language.

Optically flowing transitions characterise the exhibition. Depending on the time of day and the season, the overall impression changes. Reflections and shadows combine to create a spectacle in which the course of time is inscribed. Visitors experience the rhythmically flowing route as a flowing continuum with a composed narration. Each chapter has its own design language and is introduced by an interlude, a mechanical sculpture or an artistically designed display item.
Premium Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet stands for meticulous precision, use of the highest quality materials and the best craftmanship. These values were translated into the spacial design and the visitor experience. Creating these innovative concepts and bringing them to life is not only a magical process, but also requires a lot of preparation: from floorplans and renderings to models and planning of technical details.
The Musee Atelier Audemars Piguet is situated in the historical location where the company was established: the small village of Le Brassus, Switzerland. It was finished in June 2020.
The scenography offers a diverse experience of watchmaking with crescendos, highpoints and contemplative moments. Various sculptures, automata and kinetic installations give rhythm to the exhibition, which is optically linked to the surrounding landscape. In the heart of the spiral, visitors approach the Complications. They are demonstrated by mechanical installations and give visitors a feeling about the complexity of the watch mechanisms. Eight watches with Grande Complications are placed around the Universelle, the most complicated watch that Audemars Piguet has ever created.
The scenography of the museum shows the milestones of the brands development and related technical innovations as well as the entire design process. This starts from the origins of watch making in the Vallee de Joux, passes over the escapements and the complications by putting emphasis on the Royal Oak series.
The visitors immerse the Swiss watch manufacturers past, present and future. In the exhibition, reflections and shadows combine to create a spectacle in which the course of time is inscribed. Visitors experience the route as a flowing continuum with a composed narration where each chapter has its own design language. The history of the company serves as a starting point of the narration. Visitors travel through the building as they would through the spring of a timepiece.
