Unique Properties

The X Series mechanical watch is a collaboration between BEXEI and the famous toy company, Hasbro. It takes "restore the classics" and "breakthrough the future" as its creative concept, and is inspired by the classic IP, Transformers. The exploration of modern mechanical aesthetics and the interpretation of the new generation's diverse and multi-layered visual communication create a stunning experience from Cybertron.

Production Technology

The unique "X" design of the movement forms a stable and solid dial. The fully automatic mechanical movement developed by BEXEI is housed in a 316L steel frame with a panoramic back view, providing an unobstructed view of the movement's operation and showing a purely mechanical aesthetic, which allows visualizing the precise mechanics. The smooth lines highlight the tough shape derived from Transformers, and the perfect combination of the brand logo and the two sides of the case adds another visual impact. The texture of the circuit board on the strap seems to be infused with unstoppable energy.

Design Challenge

Its movement, Cal.BX851.288.72de, was developed entirely in-house by BEXEI and took more than three years. It is ruthenium-plated and finely polished with advanced watchmaking techniques. It has a cement gray color and its exquisite jewel bearings The exquisite jewel bearings interpret the extreme details of the Chinese watch while bringing a more stunning viewing experience. Through structural optimization and control of the decay of the winding torque, the X Series achieves an impressive 72-hour power reserve.The movement is slim and at with distinctive avant-garde style.

Project Duration

The development of the movement of the X series mechanical watch started in 2019. It was developed and produced by BEXEI professional designers over three years, and the final design was launched in China in June 2022.

Operation Flow

This watch introduces a new way of time reading. Instead of the traditional 24-hour markings on the dial, the X-shaped movement aligns to the 8 time positions of the 24 hours, positioning the time in a simple yet special way, while avoiding difficulties in reading the time, and highlighting the innovative form of the watch.

Research

The designer promotes a brilliant and attractive design based on the types of mechanical watches already on the market. Meanwhile, BEXEI adopts a futuristic minimalist design approach and studies Transformers, extracting the "X" shape and applying it to the design, which brings a strong sense of storytelling. This “X” shape occupies a crucial role in the design.

Inspiration

No boy could resist Transformers. This classic image brings us a new way of thinking about watchmaking, with all the design ideas for mechanical watches breaking through the limits of what we know.We enable the wearer to feel the dual romance of mecha and mechanics.

X Series Watch has been a Golden winner in the Watch Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Gold A' Design Award is granted to designs that demonstrate a high level of innovation and a significant impact on their intended audience. Recognized as a major achievement by the A' Design Awards, these designs are characterized by their visionary approach and the exceptional skill of their creators.
