The inspiration is from Chinese traditional culture, Calligraphy and Idiom. The packaging cover is about the Chinese legend of 'carp leaping over the dragon gate' which has a strong connection with jump rope sports and also motivates people to overcome difficulties and achieve great success. The designer extracts core elements such as fish, gate and water. Using triangle shape and recyclable material makes the packaging extraordinary and environmentally friendly by reducing packaging overall volume, weight and one design for all sizes shoes.

The packaging box is different from the common rectangular design, allowing shoes, clothes, and accessories to be laid flat inside the box, not only saving packaging materials but also reducing logistics costs. A wide range of children's shoe sizes from 31 to 43, accommodating with a single design. Rolling clothes up not only solves the problem of wrinkles during the transportation, but also reduces the packaging, making it more environmental friendly.

The packaging is an abnormal shape and uses environmentally friendly materials, especially the three corners are difficult to handle. It is also hard to ensure uniform quality of each product and control of cost and schedule.
How to be more environmentally friendly is a very challeng, not only the choice of materials, but also how to design to reduce space, to fit different sizes of shoes in one design, and to reduce the packaging of clothes and accessories. At the same time, during the production process, the processing of the corners of the triangle also increases the difficulty of manufacturing.
The project started in March 2023 in Xiamen and finished in June 2023 in Beijing
1) Objective is to design a extraordinary packaging and embody the sports spirit of perseverance and hard work 2) Market research: Consider the target group, Chinese young people aged 6 -18 years, who love and recognize Chinese traditional culture 3) Creative: Deeply explore Chinese traditional culture 4) Appearance and structural design: Abstract core shapes, colors, and patterns 5) Internal structure: consider the display of shoes, clothes, and accessories, and how to use one box to fit different sizes of shoes 6) Visual design: Referring to the story of a carp jumping over a dragon gate, extracting core elements such as fish, gate, and water 7) Make samples 8) Feedback: Collect feedback from customers, manufacturers, and consumers, including: appearance, graphic design, user experience, logistics, packaging, materials , cost , etc. 9) Production: Ensure uniform quality of each product and control of cost and schedule.
Deeply studied traditional Chinese culture, including: idioms, traditional Chinese architecture, Chinese calligraphy, and write the theme "Jump Chinese Style" with a brush. When studying "the carp leaping over the dragon gate", we developed an abstract symbol for the Chinese character “door" and used simple circles to represent the rapid water flow and challenges.
Design a limited edition packaging for the Chinese jump rope national team for their world championships, which contains shoes, clothes and accessories. Using traditional Chinese elements, such as the Chinese national flag, Calligraphy and idiom. Inspired by the Chinese legend of 'carp leaping over the dragon gate,' which has a strong connection with jump rope sports and also motivates people to overcome difficulties and achieve great success.
