Musee du Nuage is a nature-themed aesthetic medical clinic designed by WUZ Design, providing a tranquil and exclusive urban retreat right at the bustling city center. The minimalist approach from the designer has transformed the property into a spacious stage, where the appearance is developed by interweaving the light, the shadow, the people, and the movement within.

Every design detail surrounds the beauty of nature. The ceiling lamp, for instance, is customized to preserve the hand-drawn silhouette and create diffused light with translucent material, and the construction method of the outer wall is inspired from fabric weaving technique, yielding more natural look with genuine pattern. Also, the unique shape of the vase at the entrance, serving as the core of the theme, resembles the stoma tissue of plants.
Privacy and serenity are the attribute this project strives to provide, which in a way contradict to the Less is More philosophy. To reach the perfect balance in between function and style, there are three block units set to form up the circulated traffic flow with isolated corners spreading across the space. Also, the custom-made ground-up window in the treatment unit provides both privacy from pedestrians and light diffusing into the room.
The project finished in March 2019 in Taipei Taiwan.
The front yard functions as an urban retreat to whoever enters the property, welcoming guests with a sense of serenity right at the city center. While the client is lying on the treatment bed and facing toward the ceiling, the warm, diffused light from the curvy ceiling lamp is set to provide comfort and warmth to de-stress. In the common area, special arrangements are made for anyone to easily find a belonging corner with comfy armchair, sit in, and feel exclusive, calm, and relief.
To improve the workflow, removing a reception counter and a waiting area, the circulation within the property has been rearranged thoroughly. The appointment-only mechanism allows pre-routing for the individual client, avoiding any redundant movement and contact to maintain time-efficient with high privacy. The design research of this project also focuses on materials applied. To further develop a natural look, volcanic stone platform and diatomite walls are chosen to form the courtyard. The cell-themed vase is deliberately made with pure iron, which is set to reflect reality, preserve primal essence, and introduce the sense of time-flowing into the space. As time goes by, the surface will inevitably oxidize to rust, but through proper treatment it can be reborn, which resembles the work of aesthetic practice.
Traditionally, aesthetic medicine is about improving cosmetic appearance through various of treatments for perfection; however, on the contrary, Musee du Nuage believes in the concept of Less is More and the essential beauty through minimal practices. This philosophy thus prevails the overall design, just like the saying of Mies, Simplicity of construction, clarity of tectonic means, and purity of material shall be the bearers of a new beauty.
