Banquet Restaurant for Yuntu
In addition to the rational spatial planning and setting of motion lines, the designer adopts the most representative freehand brushwork techniques in the painting and calligraphy of the Song Dynasty in the space design to build an illusory land of great void with mountains, sea, clouds, moonlight and flowers. In color matching, the designer uses azure as the main color and added black and white to create a sense of space that is ethereal, clean and rich in the aesthetic features of the Song Dynasty in China.

The project is a banquet restaurant, mainly offers service for large-scale activities such as wedding, celebration. Hence, it needs to possess strong artistic features and romantic temperament. The designer adopts the technique of Chinese ink painting in Song Dynasty and color matching skills to build an illusory land of great void with mountains, sea, clouds, moonlight and flowers.

Design features: Song Dynasty is the era with the highest level of artistic creation. The designer hopes to express the painting art of the Song Dynasty in space to create a unique spatial temperament. The design features are mainly reflected in three aspects: Firstly, spatial planning: the designer divides the space into three parts, and draws on the garden design techniques of the Chinese Song Dynasty. It is a 60 meter long vaulted corridor enclosed by glass first, and then detoured into a special shaped hall with black and white tones, and finally into a bright and crystal banquet hall. The three spaces use different shapes, materials, light and colors to form a space with sense of layer. Therefore, guests can feel a strong visual shock when they reach the theme space. Secondly, artistic expression: the designer adopts the most representative freehand brushwork techniques in the painting and calligraphy of the Song Dynasty to freely display devices such as moon, cloud, mountain, water, flower and trees in the space without restriction, and at the same time creates ethereal mood for city of sky through a lot of white space and the combination of virtuality and reality. Thirdly, color matching: generally no more than five colors are used in Song Dynasty ink paintings. In this project, the designer uses azure as main color in the space, matched with black and white. Different effects are formed through the interaction for reflectivity and transparency of different materials and environmental lighting, reflecting the simple color concept in the art creations of Song Dynasty.
The excellent art works in Song Dynasty possess distinctive vitality. How to present charm to the space is the challenge for the project. Clouds and flowers are the most vital elements in nature. The designer uses transparent and reflective material to build models and combines with light change to express the fluidity and haziness of cloud. It forms a combination of virtuality and reality with various flower devices in the space and creates space atmosphere full of vitality and dreamy color.

The guests first pass through a 60-meter-long blue transparent passageway to a black-and-white event hall with a cloud-shaped device serving as partition, and finally into a huge, dreamy banquet hall. Through the carefully designed spatial motion lines and color contrast, the space is endowed with a sense of rhythm and ceremony, bringing guests from the hustle and bustle of city into crystal sky theme space with flowing clouds. It seems as if we are in the heaven instead of in the universe.
Expression for the artistic features of Song Dynasty paintings in modern commercial space Application of Chinese classical garden art in interior space planning Application of ink painting techniques and color matching in space design Creating a sense of layer and ceremony in commercial space Creation of sky theme space
The Song Dynasty was the peak of art in history of China. Emperor Song Huizong of the Song Dynasty created azure porcelain according to the color of the sky after the rain, which became the most representative artistic symbol of the Song Dynasty. The designer uses azure as the main color and added black and white to complete the color matching of the whole space, creating a space that is ethereal, clean and rich in the aesthetic features of the Chinese Song Dynasty.
