Production Technology
PII FIT is decorated with a lamp belt, acrylic plate and stainless steel structure, which ensures both the cost and its future maintenance cost and structural strength. Considering the location above a training institution, the whole project is also designed with perfect sound insulation equipment to ensure that other floors will not be affected by the noise during the operation of the gym.
Design Challenge
The greatest challenge lies in the sound insulation of the project. As there are both office areas and educational institutions on the upper and lower floors, PII FIT often received complaints from neighboring floors when decorating. But after the project was fully decorated and officially put into operation, even if the classroom downstairs is carrying out an exam, no noise from the gym can be heard.
Project Duration
Located at 4F, Huiying Building, Jinhu Road, Xiamen, China, the project was launched in October 2018 in Xiamen, China, ended in March 2019 and put into use in May 2019.
Operation Flow
The gym's technology elements are embodied in the spinning room and the HOLOFITS room. To create an immersive experience, the projection equipment in the spinning room adopts the special technology of 180-degree wide-angle seamless projection. The wall and floor of the HOLOFITS room are all made up of touch screens, making it convenient for customers to interact at any time when they exercise.
Research
Given that the male-female ratio of customers varies in each sport, PII FIT decorates different fitness areas with varied themes. For example, for the Pilates room mainly involving females, the designer chooses the starry sky ceiling with pink lights to set off the atmosphere. The spinning room roof is illuminated by simple line lights, presenting a more concise and fantastic overall atmosphere.
Inspiration
Inspired by the film "Tron : Legacy" directed by Joseph Kosinski in 2010, the theme design of the light bar plus black background of this project features a combination of black base interior and line lights, which not only provides strong visual effects and adequate lighting, but also plays an important role in guiding the circulation.
Project Overview
PII Fit Space Design has been a Silver winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill.
