Sleek and stylish pet bowl for dogs and cats with two types of unique inner "paw" designs. One design is raised to slow a pet's eating, and the second just slightly showing like a pet's signature to make you smile. The side grooves make it easier for the user to pick up the bowls. The smoothness of the material and design of the paw prints allow for easy cleanup. The color of the paw print can be personalized to make the appearance of tne bowl stand out.

1. Make a design image hand built by clay. 2. Digital modeling 3. 3D printing 4. Attached hand built paw sculpture. 4. Make a 4 parts plaster mold. 5. User testing 6. Research and improve glaze for the color.
Trapezoid designing is what I had to learn for 3D modeling in order to create the same angle engaged design. I used the 3D printed models to make the plaster molds and the stoneware prototypes. I wanted the Paw to be changed to a personal choice of many colors, so I had to research and test many high fire clear glazes in order to find which one would show the actual bright color.
The project started in April 2016 in Pennsylvania, United States and finished in October 2020 in Pennsylvania, United States and was exhibited in ARTSPACE 1241 in November - December 2020.
The adorable paw is designed to help slow eating. The square exterior base design helps the bowl visually fit in any type of room, while the inner round arch helps prevent the pet's food from getting stuck. The exterior curves reduce the chance of pets picking up and overturning the bowl. The material of the bowl is also thick and heavy enough that along with the extra foot pads the bowls are difficult for pets to bush the bowl away and also prevent scratching of floors. The bowl is perfectly designed on the sides to make it easier for someone to grab and lift the bowl.
I researched usable materials to find what would be the strongest, and this stainless steel. But stainless steel is not microwave safe and it is easy to push away because it is not usually heavy. Another option was porcelain. Porcelain would not be durable enough and would be many times the cost. Stone clay makes it heavy, strong, and beautiful. Also, I used to work in an animal hospital where we used stainless bowls and they remind me of sick animal patients. Pets are our family and we often use ceramic dinnerware ourselves. So stone clay was the best material for the pet bowl for me.
My best friend asked me to make a pet bowl for her cat Taiga, which she had just adopted from an animal shelter. Taiga did not like eating from plastic containers and she often ate too fast causing her to regurgitate the food.
