The Pure1 Service Experience is designed to make subscribing to Pure Storage services as simple as signing up for video streaming plans. With this goal in mind, Pure1 team has designed a transparent and automated digital journey that simplifies discovery, ordering, and tracking. Have trouble deciding? AI-assisted recommendations help customers make the right choice. Ready to buy? A quote request takes just two clicks, and the Order Tracker provides up-to-the-minute status for easy tracking.

The initial concept of the design was created as wireframes in Figma. Through internal stakeholder reviews and external user feedback, the design evolved and hardened over time into polished comps and interactive prototypes. The development team implemented the design using a combination of Bootstrap, AngularJS, and Pure1 CSS libraries on the front end, and a sophisticated stack of backend technologies such as AWS messaging services, MongoDB, and KairosDB.
The Service Experience design project happened during a time when Pure Storage was undergoing a major rebranding so the team partnered very closely with Marketing Creatives to ensure this design followed this new language while ensuring that it fits harmoniously within the existing Pure1 environment. Through tight collaborations with the Marketing team and other business units, the team delivered a simple service workflow that captures the essence of the new modern look and feel of the rebrand.
This project was a collaboration between multidisciplinary teams at Pure Storage. The project started around mid-2020, with the initial release of Pure1 Service Experience in January 2021. Team members are primarily located in Bellevue, Washington and Mountain View, California.
When customers log into Pure1, they navigate to the Service Catalog to explore a wide range of services such as cloud storages, backup services, and professional services. To evaluate a service they click through to the Details page to view use cases and detailed pricing information. On the same page, they can request a trial or a quote in just two clicks. Once a request is created, customers can use the Order Tracker to view request progress, and schedule professional services if they desire.
The Pure1 team performed a combination of competitive benchmarking, internal reviews, and user validations with the objective of delivering a simple self-guided customer experience. By applying learnings during wireframing, the team iterated on the design over multiple stages of business feedback, then tested the design through Figma prototypes to collect feedback from potential customers. After release, the team monitored usage via Google Analytics, and used the data to fine-tune the design.
Companies across industries are rapidly evolving their IT infrastructure to be cloud- and subscription-based, opening doors for a new level of IT infrastructure agility and cost flexibility. While the design industry has done a good job making E-commerce easy for B2C websites, online buying of IT services remains a big challenge in B2B. Pure1 team was inspired to design a first class digital journey for customers to discover, learn, and subscribe to services to help accelerate this evolution.
