Ten Thousand To One is an exhibition showcasing thesis projects created by seniors of the Communication Design Program at Mahidol University International College. To integrate the visual identity, a series of materials and publications are created with Ten Thousand To One visual identity. Designers designed a set of visual identity concepts through the use of illustration, color, and exhibition's key graphics to connect all projects together and at the same time, create a friendly and inspired atmosphere for visitors.
Graphics, Illustration, Visual Communication Design, Event, Exhibition Display
Integration of various media and applications are used to create the exhibition promotional materials for the projects' displays including on and offline publications, identity system, poster designs, promotional virals, animated clips, typography designs, environmental graphic design for way finding system and stage design, along with the event's booklet, gift, and souvenir design.
The visual representation, identity, of the exhibition must cohesively project unique characteristics of various types of displayed design works. In addition, the exhibition’s visual identity should not only be flexible enough for designers to apply to the visual identity of all promotional material media and application, but also should visually communicate the theme of the exhibition to visitors from the non-design field.
The project started in September 2019 with the research and design development and finished in August 2020 as an exhibition showcase at Siam Center (Bangkok) on 20-22 November 2020.
Group of assigned designers created an event visual identity that not only captures unique characteristics of projects shown in the exhibition, but also projects a friendly and inspired atmosphere for visitors. The goal is to make visitors feel inspired with all creative works surrounding them while they are walking through the exhibition displays. With the hope to create visual, graphic design, appreciation among them.
The aim of this research is to come up with the design of the visual identity for the exhibition which will be transformed to key graphics linking all displayed works together through exhibition event promotional material, application, and media. The process started with the review of all works that will be displayed in the exhibition event. Then the assigned designers, creative team, came up with the theme of the exhibition covering all shared fundamental steps of the “design process” for the creation of final design works in the exhibition. For the design process using here, thousands and thousands of possible ideas were generated, then edited and revised down through a series of critique sessions which acted as a filter for the best, only one, final design work. This concept led to the theme of the exhibition and got transformed through the event’s identity, key visual, and promotional material including on and offline publications, identity system, poster designs, promotional virals, animated clips, typography designs, environmental graphic design for way finding system and stage design, along with the event's booklet, gift, and souvenir design.
Ten Thousand To One is taken from the design process involving the search for ideas visual, research, in-depth study as well as analysis, and then filtering those ideas into the best one that is thoroughly executed as design products that are not only solve identified problems, but also practical and beneficial to users and society as a whole.
