Poster for JIMMYnYOM
The Using Stuff project reconstructed the movie poster using various types of objects. Artworks are inspired by the original form and function of the object as well as the signature of each movie. The objects used were made with easy to find items anytime, anywhere. The project's theme covers societal issues that are currently in question (Russian-Ukraine war, Covid-19, etc.). It is designed to be easily accessible to viewers by associating themes with famous films such as James Bond. Each work is made up of vivid colors and simple backgrounds, allowing viewers to focus more on the subject.

The "Using Stuff" project reconstructed a movie poster, using various shapes and silhouettes of objects. When he made these posters, he parodied movies, using small objects around people's daily lives. Via these posters, people were made to think through current problematic issues (the Russian-Ukraine war, Covid, etc.) or to have fun by combining the existing movie signatures. This project is inspired by the action that comes from the intrinsic form and a function of an object. Vivid colors and simple backgrounds have been applied to these artworks to have the viewers focus on the story of the themes and the contents.

First, draw a picture and place an object on top. And then take a picture of the set work. Finally, the footage is corrected with a design tool(photoshop,Illustrator) and digitally optimized.
The important factors that they always worry about are understanding and memory. The goal is to make a variety of issues easy to understand and remember for a long time. A good metaphor becomes a story, and people remember it. And the designer wants to spread it and have a positive impact in such a direction.
"Using Stuff" project started in March 2016 in Incheon and still ongoing. Project was exhibited in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon in March 2017 and Jung-gu, Incheon in July 2020.
These artworks can be optimized for the web and be accessible for anyone in SNS. Especially, the artworks are expected to communicate with people as NFTs. A digital exhibition can be held if the artworks are collected to a certain level. In addition, offline exhibitions are possible, showing various potentials through the project.
Everyday, this guy watches problems and incidents happening on YouTube. And he thinks about the essence of human beings that people have had for a long time. From there, he looks for the ways to have the viewers remind themselves of the recurring problems, so that they wouldn't forget them. That's the "Story". Through the story, people find the connection between each element and do not forget it. Even if people don't remember, these designs will remind them of the relevant event again.
By directly using objects, their size and original functions become accessible. The project creates a situation that contrasts with the characteristics of the object. Through artworks, Juyoung Hwang tries to show different perspectives on the functions of the objects. Then, he finds a way to link the objects with recent social issues, related contents, or others. When the sketch is completed, the final visualization is done so that users can be impressed and understand easily.
