As a series of pure water to commemorate Wuhan's selection as an "International Wetland City", the four animals that inhabit the area, namely the porpoise, the green duck, the black stork and the elk, have been selected to represent the four seasons. The traditional Chinese ink painting technique is used to blend with the local wetland environment. Unique Properties

This is a commemorative series of purified drinking water commemorating Wuhan's selection as the "Wetland City". Its unusual creativity lies in combining the images of four native animals with the local wetlands and landscapes by traditional Chinese ink painting in a abstract and concrete way, reflecting the themes of cultural inheritance and ecological protection.

Production Technology

The white bottle label adopts a heat shrink label process of spot color printing. While the Chinese traditional painting helps to show the four local animals, the finless porpoise, the blue headed duck, the black stork and the elk, which are selected to represent the four seasons of the year, in the abstract and concrete expression and depicts a vivid scene of the wetland scenery, highlighting the theme of harmonious coexistence, environmental protection, and inheritance of Chinese culture and art.

Design Challenge

It is a veryarduouschallenge for designers that the ingenious integration of animal figures and landscape image withoutvisibleefforts, then expressed by the traditional Chinese ink painting, which needs to study a large number of ancient works and take repeated modifications to present the picture that conform to the creative design.

Project Duration

The project started in Wuhan in February 2023 and was completed in Wuhan in April 2023.

Operation Flow

The wetland scenery and animals familiar to locals is combined in Chinese ink painting, which makes it easy to resonate with people and get topicdiffusion as the novel combination is highly attractive. It is also unique and eye-catching when displayed as a series of products. The AI technology would help people to view the three-dimensional and dynamic perspective picture when they scan the QR code on the label, their deep attention would rise in the innovative and interesting interactions.

Research

As a packaging for purified water that reflects Wuhan, a city of wetland and the theme of environmental protection, the elements that are consistent with the theme must be found out from the ecology items which are well recognized by the locals, and the more profound cultural connotations of Chinese culture and art should be explored too.

Inspiration

Wuhan was selected as an "International Wetland City" in the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands which held in this city in 2022. Inspired by it, four rare native animals, including the finless porpoise, the blue headed duck, the black stork and the elk are selected to represent the four seasons of the year in this city. The traditional Chinese painting is applied to ingeniously integrate the images of them with the pictures of local wetland scenery and tourist attractions.

Project Overview

Love Hanshui Water Packaging has been a Silver winner in the Packaging Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
