Designing a symbol that is free from cultural bias and prejudices can be a challenging task. To achieve objectivity, it is essential to create a design that does not generate any cultural conflicts or convey any particular cultural meaning. One effective strategy is to use a neutral color scheme that is universally recognized and accepted, such as the Olympic color scheme.
The project commenced on August 22nd, 2021, at Otis College of Art and Design and concluded on August 29th, 2021. The project was showcased during Otis Design Week on August 29th, 2021.
The project was a part of Otis Design Week before the semester began. Students created their own tops with a provided kit and used them for a group activity to connect creatively with their peers. Posters featuring the tops' movement formed the letters "We," effectively capturing the playful and collaborative nature of the project while conveying a message of unity. The project fostered collaboration and connectedness within the Otis College of Art and Design community, setting a positive tone for the academic year.
Across many different cultures, spinning tops have been developed as a form of entertainment and leisure activity. The act of spinning a top can be a unifying experience that transcends language and cultural barriers, bringing people together in a fun and engaging way.To this end, I have developed a top-making kit that can be used as a tool in educational programs, particularly as an ice-breaking activity at the start of a semester. The kit enables students to create their own tops and engage in friendly competition with their classmates.
We Belong Here Corporate Identity has been a Silver winner in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design. Their work often incorporates original innovations and elicits a strong emotional response, making a notable impact on the improvement of everyday life.
